Who We Are
Meet Your Pageant Coach and Mentor, MT!
Pageants 2 Go was founded in August of 2005 by Maria-Teresa ("MT"), a pageant veteran involved in the industry as a contestant, queen, staff member, and judge for over two decades.
MT graduated a year early from the Schreyer Honors College at the Pennsylvania State University with her B.S. in Crime, Law, and Justice with Honors where she also completed minors in English and Business. She was a 2009 Teach For America corps member in the DC Metro Area. In 2011, she received her Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Early Childhood Education from George Mason University in Virginia. MT was the founding principal of an elementary school in DC's Anacostia neighborhood and worked in public education for nearly a decade.
Currently, MT resides in Midlothian, VA with her husband Sam, three fur-babies, toddler daughter Charlotte and infant son Nicklas. With the birth of her second child in January 2018, MT retired from education and is now fully focused on her family and building Pageants 2 Go LLC. More than a hobby or pet project, P2G has become her passion and livelihood.
MT applies the same pedagogy she's learned and perfected during her career working in education - coaching teachers and school leaders - to inform and guide her work with young women across the country who are seeking to pursue and achieve their goals. The skills she seeks to impart on her clients will be utilized far beyond pageant weekend and will help young women to achieve much more than a crown and banner.
During her years as a competitor, MT has captured several local, state, and national titles for National Miss American Coed (MAC), National American Miss (NAM), International Junior Miss (IJM), Mrs. America, and the Miss America Organization. She is a two-time National American Miss National Talent winner and has also captured NAM's National Actress, Volunteer Service, and Academic Achievement titles as well as placing 1st runner-up overall at the 2008 National Miss pageant, 2nd Runner-Up at the 2007 All-American Miss pageant, and 7th at the 2004 National Teen pageant. In her years as a competitor with American Coed and National American Miss, MT holds the unique distinction of having won every optional competition at either the state or national level - from Most Promising Model to Best Resume to Spokesmodel. She participated in the Miss District of Columbia Pageant in 2011, a state-level preliminary to Miss America. She was honored to receive the Miss America Academic Achievement Award, the Miracle Maker Award in recognition of her work with The Children’s Miracle Network, and the Overall Talent Award in addition to placing 1st runner-up overall. In 2017, she attained the title of Mrs. Near Northeast and was named in the Top 5 of the Mrs. District of Columbia competition, a state preliminary to the Mrs. America Pageant. Most recently, MT participated in the inaugural Ms. division for International Junior Miss, winning the International Casualwear and Spokesmodel titles in addition to placing 2nd RU overall.
